Customer called us to replace a set of steps and a deck wanted it done cheap as possible bc its only a rental so we reused a lot of the old timber but as we tore the deck off the true problem emerged. this foundation is most certainly the worst I've ever seen in my 15 plus years of doing this work. You could literally put your hand right through the floor joist, rim joist and sill plate. There where 2nd story support beams just sitting on stacked bricks that owner couldn't afford to have replaced. in my heart I couldn't walk away from this job site knowing this was the case and I paid out of my own pocket to pour concrete around the brick to at least give it some better support. It was hard leaving this job site knowing this building was in this rough of shape but we did the best we could with what we had to work with.
